The conference on the topic “Tax Disputes and Tax Law Problems” organised by the Tax Disputes Commission together with the Faculty of Law of Vilnius University was held for the second year.

The panel discussion held after the conference discussed the topic “Will environmental taxes remain in the position of a stepdaughter?” The following issues were discussed:

• Is the practice of tax disputes to reduce taxes not an incentive to not properly fulfill tax obligations?
• Does the legal regulation of environmental taxes comply with the principle of proportionality?
• Could more powers be granted to the environmental tax administrator?

The discussion was attended by Vice Minister of Environment Raminta Radavičienė, representative of the Department of Environmental Protection Andrius Bružas, lawyer Ema Būtėnienė and lawyer Beata Vilienė from the Law Firm AVIP. The moderator of the topic was Rasa Stravinskaitė, a member of the Tax Disputes Commission.
